1. Tom Douglas is at it again. Seattle Met is reporting that Douglas has signed a lease for a space in the Martin Apartments at Fifth and Lenora and plans to open a Mexican cantina and bar serving fresh corn tortillas. Douglas has not yet announced an open date.
2. Cone & Steiner General has started hosting “casual Friday beer tastings,” held from 5 to 8 p.m. each Friday. The tastings involve two beers hand-picked by Cone & Steiner’s Seth Shepherd – today’s pours will be Uinta Brewers Sour Farmhouse Ale from their Crooked Line Series, and No-Li Brewing Spin Cycle Red Ale. And tomorrow, from 1 to 5 p.m., Eric Stone of Vinea Imports will be on hand to pour wines from the Jane Ventura winery in Spain, paired with Spanish charcuterie.
3. Capitol Hill Seattle is reporting about a “suggested gratuity” snafu at Von Trapp’s over the Memorial Day weekend. A reader sent in a photo of a receipt with grossly miscalculated suggested gratuity amounts printed at the bottom; Von Trapp’s says the mistake was an honest one.
