1. Tickets are now on sale for the first Pacific Northwest Cider Awards & Festival, set for June 6 through 8 at The Woods tasting room – and they’re expected to sell out. Twenty-seven cideries are submitting 103 ciders for your tasting consideration, and participants will be voting on a People’s Choice Award winner.

2. Chef John Howie has announced his upcoming Brew Master Beer Dinners this summer. On June 10, the chef is partnering with Georgetown Brewing Company for a four-course dinner at SPORT Restaurant & Bar, and each course is paired with a beer from Georgetown’s lineup. Other dinners will feature Pike Brewing (on July 1) and Black Raven Brewing (in August). September’s brew master is still being determined, and the series will culminate with an October dinner featuring beer from Chef Howie’s upcoming Beardslee Public House. Tickets are available by calling SPORT at 206-404-7768.

3. Ethan Stowell Restaurants is co-sponsoring the third annual Eat Run Hope charity event on June 29. The Magnuson Park event includes a 5K run/walk, a kids’ fun run, and a Chefs’ Pavilion food event with wine, beer, and cocktails. Oh, and a bacon relay pitting chefs and staff from the participating restaurants.

4. The 9/11 Museum has opened in New York, and quite a few people are displeased with the cocktail reception held at the spot where the nearly 3,000 people died. Plans to open a restaurant on the site have also drawn the ire of victims’ families.
