1. This weekend’s Washington Brewers Festival has announced the winners of the Washington Beer Awards. Among the local winners are Gordon Biersch Seattle, Stoup Brewing, Reuben’s Brews, Elysian Brewing Company, and Standard Brewing. For the full list of winners, visit the Seattle Beer News.
2. Pioneer Square has another watering hole: Intermezzo Carmine, a cicchetti and cocktail bar, opened yesterday on First Avenue. The bar is a project of restaurateur Carmine Smeraldo, who opened Il Terrazzo Carmine in the same building.
3. West Seattle’s Fresh Bistro has announced two summer events: the annual Pig Roast and the Long Table Dinner. On Saturday June 21, the restaurant will celebrate the solstice with a slow-roasted whole pig and Northwest-inspired sides and sauces. And on Thursday, June 26, Fresh Bistro is hosting its Long Table Dinner for sixteen diners. The menu is seafood centric and includes wine pairings from Small Vineyards. Reservations for both events can be made online.
4. Starbucks took a huge step this week, offering full tuition reimbursement for employees who seek a bachelor’s degree through a new online program. They’re partnering with Arizona State University to offer degrees in more than 40 areas of study.
