1. Local microbrewery Reuben’s Brews has brought home yet another award, this time placing fourth in the “Top 10 Breweries for 2014” category. Reuben’s was chosen from among 300 breweries from 20 countries. They also nabbed four medals: bronze for the Dry Irish Stout, silver for the American Brown and Auld Heritage, and gold for the Roggenbier.
2. Capitol Hill will soon be home to nanobrewery Outer Planet Craft Brewing, reports Capitol Hill Seattle. The brewery is set to open in the fall in the new Cal Park building on 12th Avenue.
3. In more beer news, this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. is The Northshore Performing Arts Center’s second Brewfest at Bothell’s Country Village. The $20 entry fee gets you a sampler glass and six four-ounce pours from breweries like Brickyard Brewing, Lazy Boy Brewing, Foggy Noggin Brewing, and five others. Proceeds benefit the NPACF’s arts program.
4. Frito-Lay is testing four new flavors through its “Do Us a Flavor” contest, including a cappuccino flavor. This horror, along with slightly-better sounding Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese, Mango Salsa and Wasabi Ginger will hit stores this month. You can vote for your favorite through October 18.
