1. It’s just over a month away, but we’re already getting excited about Cereal Magazine editor Rosa Park’s upcoming appearance at Book Larder. Park will talk about launching her oh-so-good-looking, UK-based food and travel quarterly and sign copies of the latest issue. The August 25 event takes place from 4:00 to 5:30 pm and is free, but you should RSVP here to help with the head count.
2. Neighborhood fixture Espresso Express shuttered last week after more than three decades in business at 6500 15th Ave. NE. Ravenna Blog broke the news, posting a series of tweets from the owner’s son that explain the closure, including: “been losing money for a while and the final blow was a mysterious water leak that would’ve cost too much to fix,” then “real reason: used to be that ppl would drive to get coffee, now there’s a shop on every corner and lately the surrounding area.”
3. Capitol Hill’s Marjorie is hosting an intimate dinner next week to raise funds for Yes on 522, the statewide campaign to label genetically modified foods. Click here to purchase tickets.
