1. He’s on a roll: Ethan Stowell is planning to open his latest neighborhood venture mkt. (say “market”) in Tangletown by mid-September. The 600-square-foot space squeezed between Mighty-O and Elysian’s Tangletown Pub will seat just shy of 30 diners and feature wood-fired contemporary American cuisine split into fish, meat, vegetable and snack sections. Apparently it’s not too early to make a reservation, you can call 206-812-1580 to book a table.
2. Move over Menchie’s, Molly Moon’s is headed for U-Village this autumn. “I bet you thought Seattle didn’t need another Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream,” owner Molly Moon Neitzel writes via a press release, “…but when it comes to ice cream, my philosophy is the more, the better (and my research shows that 100% of five year olds agree).” The scoop shop is aiming for a November opening in a new construction at the outdoor mall that will also include Din Tai Fung Dumpling House and Joey Kitchen.
3. Bar Cantinetta opens its doors tomorrow night in the previous La Cote location on Madison St. in Madison Valley. According to Eater, the quaint new sibling to Cantinetta’s Wallingford and Bellevue locations features a communal table and a handful of bar seats and small tables with small plates to match. Fresh pastas, an entree and seasonal cocktails round out the menu.
4. The new owners of Aster Coffee Lounge are changing the Ballard cafe’s name to Toast Ballard. My Ballard reports that the space at 5615 24th Ave. NW will start serving coffee from Slate, expand the menu and update the interior. If all stays on schedule the redo should be complete by tomorrow.
