1. Last February, Seattle resident Sarah Schacht was hospitalized for a bout of E. coli after eating at an unnamed Ethiopian restaurant in the Central District. The restaurant earned good Yelp reviews, but unbeknownst to her it also possessed several health code violations. She’s since created a petition to reform the King County Board of Health’s system for gauging area restaurants so its ratings are more intuitive and results are more accessible. GeekWire picked up Schacht’s story yesterday, and at last check her petition included more than 1,000 signatures. You can read more here.

2. A press release says it all: Linda’s Tavern’s fourth annual Linda’s Fest is, “about to set this mothertrucker ABLAZE with a monstrous FREE rock party in the sickest of locations: the parking lot behind Pine Food Market.” Artists including Absolute Monarchs, Constant Lovers and Katie Kate will perform at the event next Saturday, August 24 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. Linda’s regular menu will be available, as well as food and drink specials.

3. If you’re looking for something a little less sick to do next weekend, this one will probably be up your alley: Sack races, horseshoes and a scarecrow stuffing are happening at the 2nd Annual Belle Clementine Summer Barn Dance & Dinner. The event takes place Saturday, August 24 at 5 p.m. at Oxbow Farms in Carnation. Tickets are up for grabs online.
