1. Capitol Hill’s Lost Lake Cafe announced via Facebook that federal workers furloughed as a result of the government shutdown will earn 15 percent off their bill: “We think the people running our National Park system, Centers for Disease Control, the FAA, Veteran’s Centers, NASA, EPA, Department of Defense, Consumer Product Safety Division, Department of Education, Dept of the Interior, etc, etc, are awesome, and we think it sucks Republican House members are causing them to be furloughed. So c’mon in and feel some Lost Lake love.”
2. Cupcake Royale’s new Queen Anne shop launches next Thursday, October 10. Events are planned throughout the day, starting at 7:00 am when free diner mugs will be given to the first 100 customers that order coffee (note to self: Stumptown cold brew is on tap.) Free baby scoops of ice cream will be passed out from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. The Queen Anne Ave. and Crocket St. store will be open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm seven days a week.
3. Elliott’s Oyster House at Pier 56 is throwing its 21st annual Oyster New Year Bash November 2 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The party features a 150-foot oyster bar, more than 75 wineries and a seafood buffet. $95 tickets are available online, with proceeds benefiting the Puget Sound Restoration Fund.
4. The Pantry at Delancey announced December classes, including “Badass Bartending: Holiday Party Cocktails” with Anna Wallace of The Walrus and the Carpenter and “Cooking With Kids: Homemade Holiday Gifts.” Click here for the full lineup.
