The lengthy list of James Beard Award semifinalists has been whittled down to an elite list of finalists. Representing Seattle are Huxley Wallace’s Westward, Renee Erickson (The Whale Wins), Jason Franey (Canlis), and Ethan Stowell (Staple and Fancy).
Mount Baker’s favorite wood-fired pizzeria, Mioposto, is opening a second location in Ravenna. The restaurant is taking over the former Taverna Mazi space on Northeast 55th Street and is aiming for a June 12 opening.
Citing high rent, Bellevue’s casual Korean restaurant Oma Bap has announced it is relocating to 12th Avenue East and East Cherry Street. Oma Bap will open in The Douglas, the Seattle University student-housing development, though an open date hasn’t been announced yet.
Nuflours, a gluten-free bakery, is building out its Capitol Hill space and will be ready for a summer opening. Owners Amanda Bedell and Phebe Rossi are hard at work in the former North Hill Bakery space on 15th Avenue East. E
