Stopsky’s on Mercer Island just reopened after spending two days earlier this week installing a new bar and booths. In addition to the interior makeover, the two-year-old Jewish deli at 3016 78th Ave SE is rolling out a fresh drink list from just-hired lead bartender Keegan Maguire and seasonal menu items, including sweet corn and smoked mushroom kugel. Hours are extended for the summer, too: Stopsky’s is now open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Mondays and 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. the rest of the week.

In other news, on June 15 KPLU Food For Thought co-host Dick Stein will pick the winner of the 2013 What’s Cooking? competition at the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum. In addition to presenting the coveted “Golden Skillet” award to the year’s best campfire-prepared stew, biscuit or fruit pie, the event includes a butter churning, paddling and molding demo from a churn dating back to the 1840s. Festivities last from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma.
