Seattle Coffee Works (111 Pike St.) still managed to handle the morning coffee rush this morning out of their small space in the Newmark Tower. They were in the middle of moving across the alley to 107 Pike St., a much larger space where the old Johnny Rockets failed so miserably. If the move goes well today, the cafe should have more than enough seating to accommodate summer tourists and the incoming hoards of boat people. Don’t let that stop you from partaking in their friendly service, amazing selection of local micro roasts and rad Synesso skills. (Read my column about Seattle Coffee Works HERE.)I think it should be legal for any Seattleite to smack a tourist upside their head if they patronize the Starbucks across the street. You know, give ’em a good pop in forehead and say, “You coulda had a Mukilteo Monorail Blend.”
