Saturday’s Bacon and Beer Classic paired two modern favorites: micro brews, a Seattle staple, and the cultural phenomenon that is bacon. The event, held at Safeco Field, brought together nearly a hundred restaurants and breweries who served beer and bacon-inspired dishes to thousands of brew and bacon fans.
With the purchase of a ticket, attendees were provided with a small sample-sized ceramic mug (molded into the likeness of a red Solo cup), which bore the Beer and Bacon Classic’s logo. The event was all-inclusive, and attendees were given punch cards that entitled them to 25 beer samples and 25 food samples. However, lines were generally long enough that it would have been a challenge to fill out the entire card. A VIP pass, available at extra cost, allowed attendees to skip the lines entirely.
Activities were provided for guests, including but not limited to jumbo-sized jenga, frisbee can-jam, and bean-bag toss. In addition, the event boasted live music performances from Campfire OK, Hey Marseilles, and Beatles tribute band Creme Tangerine. With the sun shining overhead, the event had the feel of Seattle’s biggest barbecue.
