Robin Leventhal rollin’ with her gnocchi.Top Chef season six contestant and former owner of the beloved Capitol Hill bistro Crave, Robin Leventhal, has started a new project and will be cooking for you very soon!Leventhal has been put in charge of the kitchen at Stopsky’s, a new delicatessen opening on Mercer Island that will, according to a press release, “aim to revive and modernize the deli concept by taking the best of Jewish cuisine and updating it with the fresh ingredients of the Pacific Northwest.” The sharp-witted (and even sharper-tongued) Leventhal will be working alongside Columbia City Bakery co-founder, Andrew Meltzer. Together, the two will be turning out classic items like pastrami, corned beef, matzoh-ball soup, kreplach and kugel, rye bread, challah, and rugelach. Stopsky’s is owned by Jeff and Lara Sanderson, who named the deli after Jeff’s grandfather, Gilbert Stopsky, who arrived in America in 1905 from a Jewish village outside Kiev, Ukraine.The 36-seat deli will initially offer breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, and takeout, with dinner service added later this year.
