Historic restaurant China Gate in the International District has shut down after 20-years plus of serving the city’s best dim sum. Its former owners were apparently several months behind in rent.
If you prefer subs to shumai, one of your haunts took a hit, too. The space occupied by chain sandwich joint Quizno’s in Wallingford is now up for sale.
The good news is, West Seattle’s beloved butcher shop The Swinery is open back up for business starting today, following a remodel. Two words: Homemade bacon.
Cafe Char in the Central District also reopened this week. Its staff is slinging sandwiches and, worth noting if you’re in the area, $2 lattes.
Lastly, the Grocery Outlet on Fourth Avenue South is ready for customers. If you need an enormous bag of collard greens or a liter of extra-virgin olive oil, you know where to go.
