A relatively short rundown of the week’s restaurant news…
R.I.P. Cafe Revo. Your lasagna will be missed.
First off, in Madison Park, a new restaurant called The Conservatory is moving into the former Sostanza Trattoria space at 1927 43rd Avenue East. Creator Cormac Mahoney – the man behind the late and beloved Tako Truk – expects to open the establishment in early December.
In the Magnolia – Interbay area, Wheeler Street Kitchen is now serving sandwiches, soups, and salads at 3216 West Wheeler Street. Owner Greg Gambell was previously the chef at the Third Floor Fish Cafe in Kirkland.
In Queen Anne, coffee shop – children’s center Twirl Cafe opened this weekend in the Sweetbrier building at 2111 Queen Avenue North, according to Queen Anne View. Twirl offers all-natural, organic sandwiches and snacks, plus coffee. It also has a play area and toys for the tykes.
Wallingford oenophiles will soon have something to be thankful for. The highly anticipated 23,000-square-foot superstore Wine World has set Thanksgiving as the deadline for opening at 400 Northeast 45th Street.
Lastly, a closing in West Seattle: Cafe Revo at 2940 Southwest Avalon Way is no more. The Italian restaurant’s owners cite an unsuccessful attempt to find a buyer in the current economy.
