Queen Anne has recently gained a Zeek’s Pizza, a new Trader Joe’s (to replace a smaller one that closed) and Mexican restaurant Nana’s. To make room for the new perhaps, the neigbhorhood is losing some older food establishments. Today is the last day for Einstein Bros. bagel shop on Queen Anne Ave. according to a spokesperson for the company. In an official statement from the company, ENRGI, 39 underperforming restaurants will be closed. “The company will continue to focus on its high-performing restaurants to ensure the future growth and success of the business. ENRGI values the continued support of its customers, and the dedication and hard work of all its employees.” Einstein Noah Restaurant, 2.2 miles from the Queen Anne location, at 2201 Westlake Ave. #101 will remain open.
Likewise, neighborhood favorite Grub on Boston Street had its last day of service on February 15th. The restaurant owned by Sharon Fillingim has been sold to Queen Anne resident, Meg Trainer, according to Queen Anne View. Trainer will open a new restaurant in April, Bounty, which will focus on “100% organic produce for our innovative salads, house-made dressings, soups, and sandwiches, and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
