Photo by Adriana GrantOK, it’s three weeks new, so this isn’t exactly breaking news, but with summer trips and such, it was news to me. And something I was super excited to see: A generously-sized wooden platform, with a smattering of metal cafe tables. Cafe Presse has also expanded its menu recently. (You’ll have to download a pdf to see the menu.) Not only can you get the (fantastic!) old standby of the Croque Madame, but if you’re feeling a bit more culinarily ambitious, try the Noisette de Porc.A foodie friend, and former Crave chef, whose food taste I trust absolutely, had this report to offer:I had the Noisette de porc grillee sur flageolets aux cerises: Spice brined natural Oregon pork loin on flageolet beans with Bing cherries and sage. The beans were cooked more al dente than I would have preferred, but the broth they were floating in, along with cherries, and I’m guessing onions and/or fennel, had just the right touch of white wine and mild richness to it. The pork was full of grill flavor. And you can eat it outside. The sun is on the deck in the morning, and later in the day there’s shade. I was hoping for sun, but as the waitstaff remarked, “In the mornings, people bake out there.”
