Or a shit-ton of fries! Never one to shy away from a gimmick, Dick’s Drive-In owner Dick Spady is sponsoring a first-ever poster contest for kids and adults. The charge: come up with a design for the company’s 55th anniversary poster. The prize: $100 in Dick’s gift certificates and an esteemed place on Dick’s food bags at all five area restaurants next year. While the winnings would certainly be enough to sate that burger craving, $100 (when the drive-in opened in 1954) could’ve fed a family of four, for months. According to Dick’s, burgers back then were 19 cents, French fries 11 cents, and a Coke was a dime.
