You may recall Mike Seely wrote a heartfelt eulogy after John’s Wok at 1022 Alaskan Way closed. The closest convenience store to Seattle Weekly headquarters sold many staffers its overpriced bags of Doritos, hangover-curing breakfast sandwiches, and corn syrup-doused “Asian” food. This Monday, Okinawa Teriyaki moved in and filled the near seven month void. The super cheap teriyaki joint, once based a couple blocks away at 1022 Alaskan Way, relocated so they could offer more seating, as well as a bigger menu.

Over on Capitol Hill, another Internet cafe is taking over the former Online Coffee Company space at 1720 E. Olive Way. Online Cafe is under different ownership, but serves the same coffee as its predecessor
And lastly, in West Seattle, Charlestown Street Cafe at 3800 California Ave. S.W. closes this Sunday, April 3, after a 30-plus-year run. The beloved neighborhood eatery was best known for its award-winning New England-style clam chowder. On the upside: A new Irish pub is opening at 4752 California Ave. S.W. come May. A Terrible Beauty will feature 28 imported and local beers on tap and authentic Irish pub fare. If the bar name sounds familiar, it’s because the first installment of A Terrible Beauty debuted in Renton a little less than two years ago.
