Looks as though Downtown Cups–the coffee, sandwich, bagel, donut, quiche and soup joint at 65 Marion Street, has gone to that big coffeehouse in the sky. After more than four years of battling it out in this coffee-obsessed town, the place finally went dark over the weekend. The phone is disconnected, the virtual mourning has already begun among fans now bereft and left caffeine-less. And as a kind of modern, digital obituary, Cups made the announcement itself, leaving this message on its Facebook page.”Hello my peeps! Downtown Cups has officially closed its doors. It has been a great experience for the past four years. Its also been a great pleasure serving coffee to you guys. I had lots of fun and I hope you had fun too. See you around. I may be cooking your next dish for you……”No word yet on what might come in to replace Cups. But if I had to guess, I’m gonna say another coffee shop.
