Last night,Waid’s Haitian Cuisine in the Central District, held a benefit to mark the anniversary of last year’s devastating quake in Haiti.Haitians still face serious challenges, including a recent cholera outbreak. Local nonprofit Maha-Lilo (short for aEœMany Hands, Light LoadaE) raised funds to combat the tembloraE™s aftereffects while celebrating Haitian culture.High on the list of supplies the organization wants to bring to Haiti are water filters. Filtered water can serve as an effective tool in eradicating cholera in the tent cities of Port-au-Prince, the capital of the island nation.Photos by Catherine Anstett.Published on January 10, 2011
