Just a little over two years ago, Voracious noticed Samurai Noodle had plans to expand its ID location to feed hungry students near the UW campus. Finally, the doors have opened! General Manager Ryo Izawa told the Seattle Times that the process was delayed due to much needed repairs on the old building situated off of University Way. Proprietor Phil Sancken, who also co-founded Cafe Appassionato, has yet to figure out set operating hours that will work best in the busy neighborhood.
Greenwood’s Taqueria Tequila (301 NW 85th St.) has taken over the restaurant’s neighboring accounting office to create something equally as mind-numbing–although, in a good way. The PhinneyWood blog reported that the restaurant’s newest addition is a bar that holds 19 different kinds of tequila.
Also new to the Greenwood neighborhood is 85th St. Market (NW 85th St. and 8th Ave. NW). Unlike the previous convenience store that stood in its place, new proprietor Chuck Shin told the PhinneyWood blog that he had no plans to sell porn or malt liquor, further stating, “I want to feel welcome in the neighborhood and not looked down upon.”
