It’s official: San Francisco-based Patxi’s (prounouced PAH-cheese) Pizza opens its doors in Ballard this Thursday—the first location in the Pacific Northwest. Patxi’s specializes in Deep Dish pizza “topped with a layer of extra dough and homemade tomato sauce and baked in a traditional rotating pan oven” according to a press release. However, they offer an “Italian Thin” pizza too. Besides pizza, they’ll also serve salads and antipasto plates, beer, wine and cocktails. They’ll begin delivering in a few weeks.

Remember when Merlot was all the craze? Well, Efeste winery in Woodinville wants to remind people that the variety is still worth drinking. On September 7th, in conjunction with the 10-year anniversary of the movie “Sideways,” they’ll be serving their own Klipsun Vineyard Merlot, “Upright,” as well as pizzas from their wood stone oven and other small bites from 12-4. “Sideways” will be playing in the background, following a concert by a six-string electric violin player. Tickets are $30 a person.

Newly opened upscale deli, Porkchop & Co. (which we recently reviewed) is teaming up with Skylight Farms to bring you a Farm Dinner on Saturday, August 9th. Produce will be picked from the farm and a goat raised by Boise Creek Boer Goats will be roasted. Laura Pyles (Parchment Pop Up Bakery) will provide dessert and Reuben’s Brews will serve their craft ales. More details on the event can be found here.
