It’s hard to imagine improving on a summer afternoon spent sipping suds at one of Seattle’s many fine microbreweries. That is, until they brought in food trucks.
Most Seattle microbreweries don’t have kitchens, so to help soak up the booze, they’ve partnered with some of the city’s best mobile eateries. Now you can pair craft beer with burgers, po’boys, and barbecue.
Though subject to the whims and fancies of businesses on wheels, here’s a list of almost-sure bets for food-truck/microbrewery pairings this month:
Two Beers Brewing SoDo’s Two Beers is hosting food trucks every Friday through the end of August at their The Woods Tasting Room from 3 to 8 p.m. Coming up on the schedule is Caravan Crepes, A Taste of Istanbul, and Evolution Revolution. Patronize the truck of the week and get a $3 pint.
Spinnaker Bay Brewery Columbia City’s microbrewery is hosting a rotating cast of food trucks. Today is the Grilled Cheese Experience, Jemil’s Big Easy comes on Thursday, followed by ZaaTar on Friday and Maya’s on Saturday. Check spinnakerbaybrewing.com for each week’s offerings.
Black Raven Brewing Company The Eastside craft brewery hosts food trucks in its parking lot every day of the week except Monday: HP’s Smokehouse BBQ on Tuesdays; Happy Hotdog on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays; The Box or Wiseguy on Fridays; and a rotating truck on Saturdays. Be warned by The Black Raven website’s fine print: “Food vendors are independent of Black Raven and are subject to changes and cancellations.”
Populuxe Brewing Populuxe in Ballard has hosted several food trucks this summer, including Middle Eastern fare from Fez on Wheels and New Orleans cuisine from Jemil’s Big Easy. Check populuxebrewing.com or the brewery’s Facebook page for the latest.
Hilliard’s Beer Known for their graphically appealing beer cans, Hilliard’s occasionally has a food truck present. Rene Erickson’s rolling oyster bar, The Narwhal, made appearances this summer, as did Snout and Co. For the latest, check Hilliard’s Facebook page.
Chuck’s Hop Shop The Greenwood specialty beer shop isn’t a brewery, but they do have beer and food trucks. Trucks rotate, with recent appearances by Curb Jumper, Box Nature Sushi, and Fish Basket. They announce each day’s truck(s) on their Facebook page.
