It looks like things are full speed ahead with the opening of the newest location of local pizza chain Zeeks. With operations already up and running, well, everywhere (West Seattle, Denny, Queen Anne, Phinney Ridge, Greenlake, Ravenna, Kirkland and Issaquah), this newest, at 10201 NE 10th Street in Bellevue, is just one more joint where fans of pricey, over-topped, gourmet pizzas can score a large salami, roasted red pepper, pepperoncini, fresh oregano, mozzarella, provolone and red sauce pie for just $24.I’m not necessarily saying that the “pricey, over-topped and gourmet” label is a bad thing, rather that, these days, it seems to qualify as an entire pizza category of its own–like saying a pizza is New York style or deep-dish or Californian. It’s the kind of thing that some people (maybe not me, but some people) actually go looking for. And for those of you who do, now you’ve got a friend in Bellevue and a place to score a Forager (with prosciutto, portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers, arugula (seriously?), fresh oregano, mozzarella, provolone and an olive oil glaze), a 13-ingredient Kitchen Sink, or a John Candy (with Canadian bacon, natch). The grand opening is June 3.
