In what’s become a disturbing trend that has nothing to do with $15/hr minimum wage laws, yet another restaurant has decided to stop lunch service. The last official day for lunch at Ballard Ave.’s Stoneburner will be March 27th. The reason for the change? Ostensibly to allow Stoneburner to “focus on dinner and brunch as well as freeing up resources that we can dedicate to growing our catering and private dining business” as the press release states. The restaurant will still be open for happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. prior to dinner service every day. And so yet another full service restaurant option is cross off the lunch list. But the good news is that you can still head around the corner to Porkchop and Co. as an alternative.

In the spate of restaurant closing news comes some good news in that Kraken Congee will be occupying the former Little Uncle Space in Pioneer Square. Eater Seattle reports that the guys behind the congee mashup will launch in early-April and will be open seven days a week. In addition, they’ll finally have the accoutrements that make some restaurants great – a full cocktail bar. Partners Garrett Doherty and Shane Robinson will reportedly serve a menu of nearly 20 dishes in the brand new used space. Pioneer Square diners rejoice! For more on how Doherty and Robinson got financing from Tim Love via CNBC’s “Restaurant Kickstart,” see our story here.

And finally, now that St. Patrick’s Day has mercifully ended, we can move on to the next set of holiday promotions. First up, Hot Cakes in Ballard will be bringing us brunch on Easter Sunday featuring the infamous breakfast sandwich with house made biscuits, egg and cheese for the low price of $8. There will be other treats on offer to celebrate the occasion including Rhubarb Mimosa’s and both Carrot and Pound Cake.
