Hey kids, wanna turn your candy into cash?

Dreading the moment your kids get hit by the Halloween sugar rush? My Green Lake shares that you can avoid it by selling all (okay, maybe some) of the candy. On November 1, the Monday after Halloween, Greenlake Kids Dentistry at 6900 East Green Lake Way North will offer children $1 per pound of treats. Those treats will then be sent in care packages to U.S. troops overseas via Operation Gratitude.

Speaking of sugar, KOMOnews.com reports that you can get a moderate fix of it at Hotel Max on 620 Stewart Street this Friday, October 15. In celebration of the hotel’s fifth birthday, the staff will be handing out a free (!) Cupcake Royale cupcake to each passerby from 12 to 1 p.m.

Lastly, some less upbeat news: Cafe Revo at 2940 Southwest Avalon Way has closed, according to West Seattle Blog. The Italian restaurant’s owners cite an unsuccessful attempt to find a buyer in the current economy.
