Hello Kitty Cake, from Sister Souls. In case you were in need of a gluten-free Hello Kitty birthday cake, look no further! I have found one for you. Sister Souls Gluten Free Baking Company advertises just such a novelty on their webpage, and it can be obtained by simply placing an order through Peaks Frozen Custard in Capitol Hill. My birthday is coming up soon, and I am awfully tempted to make use of this information.More important, however, is what led to this discovery: the little baby loaves of gluten-free bread at Caffe Fiore, which, earlier in my gluten-free days, appeared as a glimmering light at the end of a very long and very dark snack-free tunnel. The lemon/poppy seed loaf was my favorite back then, but as the recipes continue to refine and new flavors continue to be added, choosing a favorite is becoming more difficult. Current offerings and delivery schedules are posted in the “find our products” section of the Sister Souls’ webpage. Several cafes in the area carry the mini-loaves, but while at the website, you should also check out the list of products available for order (this was how I found out about the Hello Kitty cake). If you’re looking for cakes or cupcakes for a gluten-free celebration, this is a great place to start your search.Sister Souls’ products usually contain both dairy and eggs (and in some cases, soy as well), so they are rare and carefully eaten treats in my diet. But for those without food allergies, or those allergic to gluten but fine with eggs, try the coffee-cake loaf. It is lovely. I doubt you’ll be able to tell it is gluten-free.Follow Voracious on Twitter and Facebook.
