If you’ve got a sweet tooth, and are curious to see how to create doughnuts and beignets (those sweet, French, powdered-sugar-doused doughnuts famous in New Orleans—and available locally at Seattle Center), this may be just the class for you. You’ll learn to craft both yeasted and cake doughnuts, as well as how to top and fill them. Coffee will be served with your sweet lesson plan. $43. 9 a.m.–noon. Here’s a cooking class taught by Veil‘s Shannon Galusha, chef at the one-year-old Queen Anne restaurant. Blakeley St., 206-528-8192, www.cooksworld.net. U DISTRICT

ON THE PLATE

Sunday, February 4

For those (ladies?) who would rather avoid Super Bowl Sunday mania, the Pink Door is hosting an all-ages Superbelle Sunday with food, drinks, an on-site manicurist, a tarot card reader, and “darling boy waiters and the cutest bus boys in town.” (Hey, I know a few Bowl-averse guys who might sign up for this event just to ogle the waiters.) Menu items include roasted beet salad, apple crumble tart, crème brûlée, and oysters on the half-shell. Sip a signature Pink Madonna (pink lemonade and vodka) or enjoy Valrhona hot cocoa with homemade pink marshmallows. Chick flicks will be screened, a trapeze artist will perform, and for those in a gaming mood, there will be board games to play. Free admission for movie, games, food, and drink; manicures extra; 20-minute tarot reading $20. 3 p.m. Pink Door, 1919 Post Alley, 443-3241, www.thepinkdoor.net. PIKE PLACE MARKET

Monday, February 5

If wine pairings are not quite your style, how about a four-course brewmaster dinner with five Skagit River Brewery beers? Begin with an apple, roasted sweet onion, and scallop tart with Yellowjacket Pale Ale, then try toasted beef barley soup with “Steelie” Brown Ale and sesame-crusted tuna with sweet potato gratin, paired with Highwater Porter. $49.95 all inclusive. 6:30 p.m. McCormick & Schmick’s, 1103 First Ave. 623-5500, www.mccormickandschmicks.com.
