El Niño, which fancies itself the finest tequila bar in town—does not look like the victim of a seasonal weather system. Jeez. The place does, however, seem graced with an unusual reverence for Mexico’s finest; a makeshift shrine in one corner—many, many empty bottles arranged around an impotent fireplace—clearly expresses the bar’s worshipful stance toward tequila. An upscale but not obnoxious crowd frequents El Niño, drowning post-work sorrows in extremely well-blended $4.50 Sauza margaritas and $4.50 food specials (tacos, nachos, calamari, and the like) weekdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. 113 Virginia St., 206-441-5454.
