Cafe Paloma

The little cafe just off First Avenue bills itself as the place where good food, good people, and good art meet, and that, added to their geographical placement within the still-hanging-in-there work/live loft community in Pioneer Square, gives them good cause to have something called a poor artist’s wrap on their menu. Serving a variety of Turkish and Mediterranean delights, Cafe Paloma isn’t at its most exciting or exotic with the economically challenged artist’s roll-up, but at $4.75—and brimming with tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, rich hummus, and feta cheese, you can come back later for something from the enticing dinner (or brunch!) menu. Bonus points go to the unusually tall and thin wrap master (no doubt an artisan himself) who does the rolling up of this savory sandwich substitute; thanks to his quick hands and pleasant demeanor, you’re in and out in no time, daydreaming of Aegean Seas and walnut trees. 93 Yesler Way, 206-405-1920.
