Not just your standard pool hall, the popular, clubby, and very large Belltown Billiards offers a standard happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. during the week. The half-off appetizers are a draw, and you’ll probably leave very full if not necessarily fully satisfied. For two bucks, you can munch on a “small” platter of chicken nachos, big enough to feed at least four. The homemade guacamole was a highlight, but we found ourselves hard-pressed to find much chicken. The $2 beer brat with tots, somewhat oddly placed on the appetizer menu, was filling . . . and not much else. Do try the prawns Sambuca ($4), though. Swimming in a sweet cream sauce with only a hint of Sambuca, these were the clear standout. The only drink special offered is $3 20-ounce Pilsner drafts. A reminder to the wise: If you order a mixed drink, during happy hour or any other time, name your preferred brand of alcohol lest you end up with a $7 margarita made with “Monarca” tequila and a headache. 90 Blanchard Street, 206-448-6779, www.belltownseattle.com.
