As we’ve previously reported, the intersection of 45th and Wallingford is fast becoming a sweet tooth’s paradise with Trophy Cupcakes, High 5 Pie (at Fuel Coffee), and Molly Moon’s Ice Cream, all within a block of each other. Now a fourth shop is throwing its hat into the ring: Fainting Goat Gelato. It’s owned by the Ataman family, who made their way from Turkey in 1997. They offer 18 almost entirely organic gelato varieties that will change with the season — perhaps eventually including goat’s-milk varieties for the lactose-intolerant — and they also plan to extend their menu to include gelato cakes. After a soft opening, the Atamans are aiming for a grand opening some time in the next few weeks. And Wallingford night owls will be happy to know they plan to stay open until 11 p.m. Sun.-Thur. and until midnight Fri.-Sat.Find restaurant gossip like this plus local food events and great date ideas in our Big Bites e-newsletter, sent out every Tuesday.
