As the Top Pots and Cupcake Royales of the city increasingly turn Seattleites’ toungues back toward politically incorrect fat-ass classics, perhaps it’s high time the salt bagel got a dusting off.Once a bagel boy staple, they’re now incredibly hard to find in this town. Bagel Oasis has got ’em, and I enjoyed one at Pike Place Bagel Bakery just this morning. My sense is they fell out of favor during the 90’s, when healthy bagels ruled the city (horror of horrors: the “Everything” bagel!). But now that doughnuts are back en vogue, perhaps salt, bread and cream cheese can be too.
