About thirty hours: that’s how much time you have left to vote in the Best of Seattle Readers’ Poll. I know you people have opinions. I read them every day in the comments section of this here blog. So I just want to make sure that you know you now have a place to express them where they’ll do a little good. That place? The Best of Seattle Readers’ Poll. But in advertising, they say that you’ve got to get your name or the name of your product in front of people anywhere from 3 to 20 times before they’ll actually remember it. They say that with the amount of information (most of it advertising-related) that a person is exposed to every day, forgetting most of it is just a survival technique; that if human being didn’t do this, they would go mad, run through the streets naked with hatchets, spend their days in an orgy of buying Snuggies and Slap Chops and luxury cars, or simply explode. So to get past this ingrained reflex of ignoring almost everything they see–to slip past the defenses, as it were, and cuddle up tight inside a person’s brain–an advertiser has to be both annoying and persistent. He has to say the name of his product a million times and hope that this saturation campaign will be enough to wear down the consumer and get him or her to do exactly what the advertiser wants them to do.So, with that in mind, let me please remind you that THE BEST OF SEATTLE READERS’ POLL CLOSES TOMORROW AT 5 P.M.Need to hear it again?
