$4 spicy tuna rolls? Yes, please! The Place:

Japonessa, 1400 First Ave., 971-7979, DOWNTOWNThe Hours: Daily noon-8 p.m., 10 p.m.-2 a.m.The Digs: Japonessa (Spanish for “Japanese girl”) is a hip downtown sushi restaurant that attracts as many businessmen as it does fashionistas and turistas. Rumor has it that even pint-sized moguls Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen once made an appearance. The Deal: But you needn’t run a clothing empire to feast on Japonessa’s artfully prepared plates. The double-daily happy hour here is nothing short of outrageous–happy hour stops for just one hour (!) each day, from 9 to 10 p.m. Otherwise, beer, sake, and wine cost $5 and under. Superbly executed rolls and small plates are $6.50 and under, with sides like edamame and miso soup just $1. (Be sure to order the Super Bad Boy Roll and the tempura brie cheese with raspberry soy sauce. The latter isn’t remotely Japanese, but it is a deliciously indulgent treat.)$5 well spent: tempura brie cheese. The Verdict: Three letters sum it up: W-O-W. The food is amazing, the location rocks, and at almost any given hour you can enjoy a Japanese-inspired feast far more lavish than your check indicates. Best of all, unlike most Seattle sushi bars, the chefs at Japonessa will gladly substitute brown for white rice, so that you can indulge in happy hour but stay Olsen-twin svelte.Follow Voracious on Twitter and Facebook.
