Susanna Welbourne is no pussycat dollrather, shes an Atomic Bombshell. As Kitten LaRue, shes a member of the citys most dazzling burlesque troupe, whose periodic shows at The Triple Door are not to be missed. Each member performs on her own, but their newest group production will bring the sweltering heat of the Deep South to Seattle when its most needed (er, right now, when its supposed to be spring). Nightfall in New Orleans is dedicated to Welbournes hometown, one of burlesques earliest hotspots. She trained there under some of the original dames, and hopes to showcase that old-school authenticity in the show. My favorite old Bourbon Street legend is Kitty West, whose famous Oyster Girl number I will be recreating, Welbourne says. This will involve crawling out of a giant oyster shell, which sounds as sexy as it will surely look. With this show I most look forward to sharing the magic and mystery of my hometown, and once again the Bombshells plan to raise the bar in Seattle burlesque, she says, promising that her love letter to that famous city of sin will be their most amazing show to date.
