When it comes to musically inclined genes, the Votolato clan does not want for much. Rocky helps Barsuk rake it in, former Blood Brother Coady’s got a new project, Jaguar Love, with Johnny Whitney and Pretty Girl Jay Clark (who’s Seattle debut at Vera this week was sadly cancelled) and Sonny fronts his own outfit, Slender Means. Their power pop offerings are easy on the ears thanks to a saturation of razor sharp hooks—a classic kind of sound with modern relevance, a bit like if Radiohead were to headline the 1955 “Under the Sea” dance in Back to the Future. The boys will likely debut some newbies tonight, as their forthcoming release, Intramural, comes out at the end of this month. With Das Llamas.
