Seattle Tattoo Convention

The thought of getting a tattoo scares me a little. What if I realize a few years later that the goat-head pentagram on my ass just isn’t my thing? However, some body-art pieces inspire awe at their creativity and meaning, and there’s no better place to see some of these works than at this weekend’s sixth annual Seattle Tattoo Convention. Over 200 local, national and international tattoo artists will attend, and provide their creative services to those interested. These include seminars from legendary artists Jack Rudy and James Kern, and daily contests such as “Best Tribal Tattoo” or my favorite, “Worst Tattoo.” Convention co-founder and Super Genius tattoo shop owner Damon Conklin says he enjoys the chance to show off Seattle’s distinctiveness to the rest of the world. “We have a really strong art and tattoo culture here—really creative, really versatility-driven.”
