My dance class days as a youngster were a bit of a disaster. I was always shuffling when I should have been ball-changing, or turning way too fast and getting dizzy. In my dancing prime, I always looked like a performance piece all on my own: a human struggling in an uncertain world. Scott/Powell Performances Geography has a similar message but will be way more enjoyable to watch. Their new multimedia performance, choreographed by Mary Sheldon Scott and scored by Jarrad Powell, features seven local dancers being pushed and pulled to extremes with harnesses, costumes, and human obstacles inspired by manmade changes to our global geography. It will capture the essence of that struggle, Scott said. Things are becoming harder but more and more possible because people are helping other people.
