New Year’s Eve Slumber Party

Finally, a babysitter for New Year’s Eve

If you have young kids, you’ve probably grown accustomed to staying in on New Year’s and watching the Times Square ball drop before putting them to bed and passing out by 9:30. The sad part is, you probably don’t mind. But your kids do, trust me. Coming to the rescue for kids in grades 2-8, the Pacific Science Center is hosting tonight’s New Year’s Eve Slumber Party. The first of its kind, the party will feature a fun night of science-related games and activities like hydrogen balloon explosions, rocket building, and liquid nitrogen ice cream demonstrations. Don’t worry, it’s all safe and/or edible. The night will be capped by watching the Space Needle fireworks from PacSci’s ideal vantage point. No need to stay and chaperone: the event is fully staffed, your kids will be safe, and you’ll actually get to go out that night and do adult things—like drinking while watching the ball drop and then passing out. Hmm. Suddenly your kids have better plans than you do, huh? 7 p.m. tonight to 9 a.m. Tues., Jan. 1.
