One could argue that long-running Omaha, Nebraska quintet Neva Dinova laid the groundwork for Bright Eyes, exploring a junction of emo, slowcore, Dylan-folk, and roots-rock (with a healthy dose of angst) since forming in the early ’90s. After 15 years, the combo, led by FOC (“Friend of Conor”) Jake Bellows, just made the leap to Saddle Creek Records, though, for their recent record You May Already Be Dreaming. The album’s filled with both straight-up Hank Williams-style tear-in-beer country shuffles and epic slow-burn country-rock a la Neil Young and Crazy Horse, which should make for a scintillating, if somewhat schizophrenic, show.
