My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult

Friday, April 11

Formed in 1987 as a somewhat more club-friendly offshoot of Chicago industro-metal godfathers Ministry (founder Frank “Groovie Mann” Nardiello was Ministry’s lighting tech), My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult reveled in devilish B-movie/horror-flick raunch and gore. The band’s finest hour was arguably 1991’s Sexplosion!, featuring the hit “Sex on Wheelz” and other standouts like the title track and “Leathersex” (detecting a theme here?), though earlier, noisier numbers like “A Daisy Chain 4 Satan” and “Kooler Than Jesus” were equally attention-grabbing. Thrill Kill Kult also presaged Marilyn Manson’s shock-vibe with live shows that brought Jesus attire and dildos together in ways that typically lead to protests and being relegated to the music industry fringes. Still together after all these years, the Kult comes back around in support of a new album titled, what else, The Filthiest Show in Town. With the Urban Bombshells Burlesque Show. El Corazon, 109 Eastlake Ave. E., 381-3094. 8 p.m. $18 adv./$20. MICHAEL ALAN GOLDBERG
