ReAct Theatre and producing partner Pratidhwani strike a gusher with Taniya Hossains delightful parlor comedy about a young woman, Karen, whose relationship with Bengali fiancé Tarek gets hijacked by his widowed mother Meena, who comes to live with them in NYC. Karens misguided preparations for Meenas arrival include installing garishly commercial Hindu art, wearing a sari, and foot kissing. This tidiest of comedic setups gets an energy boost from the addition of Blanch, Karens foulmouthed screw-up mom whos been through four husbands. Naturally she moves in, too. As the rival mothers-in-law hash out the marriage issues and their own prodigious differences, Karen and Tarek drift apart in ways that only their mothers know how to repair. Meenas character development eclipses the kids story, but we easily grant this little gem its credulity-testing whims. It is, after all, a globalization fairy tale. (8 p.m. Thurs.-Sat., 2 p.m. Sun.
