Most female rockers in their 50s fade into oblivion. Or turn to the casino circuit. There’s nothing wrong with that, because Pat Benatar just as easily could have filled the Showbox with baby boomers and their 20-something hipster spawn. The latter may not remember Benatar as MTV’s first female icon, or for bringing issues like child abuse into her hit lyrics, but they do know her music—thanks to Guitar Hero 3 and South Park. Her 1985 hit “We Belong” shot up the charts again (at least on iTunes) after being featured during Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen’s make-out session in Talladega Nights. With her husband and longtime guitarist Neil Giraldo, Benatar’s trademark brand of awesomely infectious pop-rock anthems will have mothers and daughters singing together, their glowing cell phones waving overhead in lieu of lighters.
