The last time an Australian TV-star-turned-singer scored an international hit with a cover song was in 1997. (Remember Natalie Imbruglias Torn?) Now history is repeating itself in the form of actress-cum-songstress Lenka. The Sydney native first garnered attention for her musical chops via the Internet, thanks to last years widely circulated video of her performing a charming acoustic rendition of Modest Mouses Gravity Rides Anything. Soon after, she released a winsome eponymous debut album filled with folksy-pop ditties similar to those of Feist and Regina Spektor. Whether Lenka has it in her to create more than one solid album remains to be seen. (Look what happened to her seemingly promising predecessor Imbruglia.) But at least the girl can always fall back on actingwhich sure beats the alternatives for most musicians. The Gabe Dixon Band opens. ERIKA HOBART
