A century ago, before the Moore Theater hosted acts like Megadeth, it was where Seattles arts patrons could lift themselves from the muddy sinkhole that was then Pioneer Square and enjoy Bach or Beethoven in Belltown with the fledgling Seattle Symphony. In celebration of the Moores 100th birthday, the SSO is returning to its smaller digs this evening under the baton of Associate Conductor Carolyn Kuan. The program, Mozarts Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, Stravinskys Suite from Pulcinella, and Mendelssohns Italian Symphony, rewards classical fans and newbies with pieces easy on the ears and fond in the heartthe music that brings Benaroya audiences to their feet, in a far more intimate setting.
