Seattle Weekly PickUW Contemporary Group Music all over the 20th century’s stylistic map: Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale, piano works by Boulez and Poulenc, and Josh Parmenter’s Organon Sostenuto, in which “flute, bassoon, cello, and bass sounds are subjected to real-time processing. The instruments’ abrupt gestures are stretched, echoed, and layered into turbulent, haunting washes of sound.” Meany Hall, UW campus, 206-543-4880, www.music.washington.edu. $10. 7:30 p.m. Mon. Nov. 20.

Seattle Weekly PickGarrick Ohlsson For anyone else, Liszt’s vast Sonata in B Minor would be workout enough for one recital, but powerhouse pianist Ohlsson is also playing Prokofiev’s Seventh Sonata, with its thundering, rattling toccata finale, and smaller works (which will demonstrate his poetic side) by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liebermann.
