Blue Scholars, Common Market

Thursday, December 18 through Saturday, December 20

Unless you still think Seattle hip-hop began and ended with “My Posse’s on Broadway,” you’d know that the Blue Scholars are the innovators behind some of Seattle hip hop’s most iconic beats and rhymes. No one articulates the voice of Northwest life quite like them. A sampling: “I might battle just to keep this art sharp/And maybe take a ride through the Jewish parts of Seward Park/Where the view of Lake Washington is not too far.” Though the Blue Scholars are probably better known, Common Market, DJ Sabzi’s other project with RA Scion, isn’t far behind. If you haven’t jumped on the Scholars’ enormous bandwagon yet, the band shares the stage for three straight nights at Neumos with other up-and-coming Northwest groups Truckasaurus, Mad Rad and The Physics. 12/18 and 12/19 shows all ages.

Thu., Dec. 18, 8 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 19, 8 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 20, 8 p.m., 2008
