This city has no shortage of summer festivalsSeafair, the Bite of Seattle, Bumbershoot, Hempfest the list goes on and on. But this weekends Best of Magnuson Park combines food with art with soccer? Thats right: While the World Cup may be over, the Intercontinental Cup Soccer Tournament will feature six local pick-up squads with players grouped by continent. (It sounds wonderfully diverse until you consider that players from Australia will be teamed with, yes, other Australians.) The tournament, conducted at fields six and seven, is supposed to raise awareness of global warming. Between matches, you can wander over to Hangar 30, where 100-odd artists will be vending their locally crafted work. Or, go listen to the speeches and music at the parallel Justice for Mankind Festival. And, of course, no summer festival would be complete without food stands and a wine-and-beer garden.
